Our History

Buildings Etcetera, Inc. was founded on April 25, 1989, by Peter and Kathy Chase. With just $10,000 to invest and a vision rooted in hard work and integrity, they launched the company from their home in New Limerick, Maine. What began as a small, family-run operation working on a shoestring budget has grown into a trusted commercial construction firm with more than 2,000 completed projects—some exceeding $4,000,000—and over $100 million in contracted sales since inception.

From the beginning, Peter and Kathy believed in creating opportunities close to home. While many projects take place across the state and into neighboring regions, Buildings Etcetera continues to rely on local employees and local subcontractors, helping reinvest dollars into communities throughout Aroostook and Washington Counties.

As the name “Etcetera” suggests, the company’s capabilities extend far beyond traditional building construction. Over the decades, project types have included everything from intricate concrete foundations and structural steel fabrication to conveyor systems, biomass boiler installations, pump stations, wastewater treatment facilities, pre-engineered STAR buildings, contemporary homes, and modern financial institutions.

Ingenuity has always been a hallmark of the Buildings Etcetera team. With a core workforce of 20+ skilled professionals, the company self-performs a broad range of services including:
